LEICESTER heat-leader Richard Lawson competes in Monday's Sports Insure British Final at Belle Vue.
Lawson has never won the national title but has often been there or thereabouts in the mix towards the end of the meeting.
His best result so far was second place in the behind-closed-doors event during the Covid season of 2020.
The British Champion will receive a Wild Card for the forthcoming British Grand Prix at Cardiff - and this will go to the runner-up if GP regular Dan Bewley defends his crown.
Recent Leicester signings Richie Worrall and Craig Cook have both withdrawn from the event but will return for the Watling JCB Lions against Wolverhampton on Thursday.
